Travel Photo Friday: Take it in

When I'm travelling I find I come home with lots of photos of beaches; landscapes, and buildings. Sometimes it's just too easy to wander around a city and not take in your surroundings.
On a trip to Lisbon I saw a building that reminded me of an old Chanel advert - does anyone remember the 90's advert for Egoiste with women opening and closing the shutters on a building?


If not google it, and I'm sure you'll appreciate why my memory was triggered when I saw the building above! There's so much going on in this photo from the blue sky; the 3D building on the left of the shot, to the fabulous old balconies with washing hanging from them. Look up, look around, and take it all in when you're travelling!

If you like chicken, and haven't yet tried Piri Piri, I have to break it to you.....you're missing out big time! The dish is traditionally made from Piri Piri peppers which originated in South Africa, and were imported to Portugal from Angola and Mozambique. Life is not a dress rehearsal

Ever since I was a little girl, my dad told me "Life is not a dress rehearsal". While it was a phrase that stuck in my mind, it didn't resonate with me until I got a bit older, and realised that he was totally right! We spend so much of our lives at work; in meetings, and sometimes doing things we don't always enjoy. So when we have time off and go on holiday, we have to make the most of it. Take time to look up at that blue sky, breathe in that fresh air to give us new energy for when we have to return to reality! One of my passions is travel - another is research, which combine to make a brilliant partnership! I may have found the perfect spot to stay in Marrakech.
